Blackbushe Aviation opened in June 2002 and moved into its newly refurbished building in July 2002, next to Biggles Bistro.

We currently have twelve aircraft based at Blackbushe (click here for details) and offer private and commercial training, air experience flights and ad hoc charters.

We are one of Redair's Flight Centres along with Redhill Aviation and Sky Leisure Aviation (Shoreham) . Redair stemmed from Redhill Aviation which has been training pilots since 1984.

Blackbushe Airport started life as RAF Hartford Bridge in 1942 initially operating gliders and then home to 16 Squadron Spitfires. The base closed in 1946, then was reopened by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and renamed Blackbushe. When Gatwick opened in May 1960, Blackbushe was deemed surplus to requirements for commercial air travel and closed. From 1962, despite the digging up of one of the runways smaller aircraft moved in and have been operating out of Blackbushe ever since.
